About Us

Dr Jay Moodley is a locally born and bred nephrologist based in Umhlanga and Mount Edgecombe. He completed his undergraduate training at the University of Witwatersrand in 2000 and after his internship and community service in KZN, moved to the UK.

He held various posts as a medical officer throughout the UK in trauma and various surgical and medical disciplines. He is a registered practioner with the General Medical Council in UK. He returned to SA and started his internal medical training in 2006.

He qualified as a physician in 2008 and thereafter started his super specialisation in nephrology He completed his training in 2012 and started private medical practice in 2013.

He is registered as a physician and nephrologist with the HPCSA.

He currently practices at Busamed Gateway Private Hospital in Umhlanga and Life Mount Edgecombe Hospital in Phoenix He has a diverse renal team that are ready to provide comprehensive up to date and evidence based care to both in-patients (admitted) and out-patients.

His renal team comprises dieticians, social workers , psychologists and psychiatrists, renal nursing staff and a dedicated renal manager who oversees all dialysis patients needs. They strive to provide centres of excellence through their dedication and commitment to holistic care.
