Outpatient Services

Screening
Preventive Nephrology is a keen passion for Dr Jay Moodley. Early screening of at-risk patients is a major part of the work done.

Kidney Assessments
A comprehensive service is provided for all patients referred or who request a kidney check-up. An individualised renal plan is created for each patient focusing on strategies to delay or prevent kidney failure if possible.

Haemodialysis Monitoring & Assessments
Patients already on dialysis are monitored and renal concerns are addressed early to prevent serious complications.

Peritoneal Dialysis monitoring & Assessments
Patients on home peritoneal dialysis are monitored and complications addressed.

Preparation & facilitation of kidney transplantation
Those patients who qualify medically are enrolled into the KZN kidney transplantation programme. Many requirements need to be met before patients are listed on the recipient list. Dr Moodley sits on a transplant panel with many other nephrologists in KZN where patients are discussed for inclusion onto the list.

As an experienced physician Dr Moodley also consults patients with any general medical concerns.

Inpatient Services

Kidney evaluation & biopsy
Part of the kidney assessment may in patent monitoring that may include a kidney biopsy.

Preparation for haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis
Surgical preparation and kidney monitoring while admitted is provided.

Management of all dialysis related complications
Chronic dialysis may be complicated by many acute medical concerns.

Facilitating the transplant process
When renal transplantation is performed a team of specialists including a nephrologist are involved.
